Peter B. Woods

Peter Barr Woods, 81, of The Villages, Florida, formerly of Macungie, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on May 10th, 2016, in St. Luke’s Hospital in Bethlehem surrounded by family. Born to Arnold and Mary (Flynn) Woods on February 25, 1935, in Allentown, he attended Perkiomen Prep, before graduating from Allentown High School as valedictorian. A nuclear engineer, he earned a Master’s Degree in Engineering Physics from Cornell University and an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business. He proudly served in the Third Army (“Patton’s Army” to him). Peter worked for GE and PP&L before retiring and moving to Florida with his wife of 51 years, Jacquelyn (deJourno) Woods. He will always be remembered for his love for Jackie, storytelling and laughter, Manhattans at cocktail time, and late night talks at the kitchen table.

He is survived by his children, their spouses, and grandchildren Christopher and Beth Woods (Jack and Wilson), MaryAnn and David Przekurat (Zoey and Andrew), and Cindy and Joseph Garso (Jackie); his and Jacquelyn's siblings and their spouses John and Suzanne Woods, Janice Woods, Robert and Nancy Sechler, and Jill deJourno; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Jacquelyn, brother, James Woods, and brother-in-law Victor deJourno.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, May 18th at 11:30 A.M. at St. Anne’s Episcopal Church 6667 Lower Macungie Road, Trexlertown, PA. Following the service and burial, there will be an open house to celebrate the lives of both Peter and Jacquelyn at the Woods–Przekurat household in Macungie.
