Randall E. Maurer, 62, of Allentown died Friday, July 8, 2016 in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the husband of Annette (Sturgeon) Poczak. They shared in each other’s life since 1991. Born in Ashland, he was the son of Anna (Herring) Maurer of Allentown and the late Leonard “Skeets” Maurer. Executive Chef Randall began his culinary career as a teen at the Locust Valley Country Club and by the time he graduated from Southern Lehigh High School in 1972 he was assistant Chef at the Century House Restaurant, Hatfield. From 1981 to 1985 he owned and operated the 19th Street Deli and in 1986 wanting to refine his classical cuisine skills, he purchased Henry’s Salt of the Sea, Allentown which he operated successfully for more than 20 years before selling it in 2007. In August of 2011 he as Executive Chef and a partner opened Randall’s on the Orchard Restaurant and Bar, Orefield where he prepared dishes that were sure to exceed any patron’s expectations. When he had the chance, he enjoyed a round of golf with friends. A former owner of several race horses, Randall also enjoyed horseracing. He was a former member of Mahoning Valley Country Club.

Survivors: Wife; mother; daughter, Sheri Maurer of Green Lane; step children, Tammy wife of John Royer of Mechanicsburg, Terry Poczak husband of Lynne Madnick of Astana, Kazakhstan; brothers, Jeffrey husband of Christie Maurer of Emmaus, Dennis husband of Mary Maurer of Quakertown, Richard Maurer of Fountain Hill; 3 grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter; 4 step grandchildren.

Funeral Service 10:30AM Wednesday in the J.S. Burkholder Funeral Home, 16th & Hamilton Sts., Allentown. Call 7 to 8:30PM Tuesday and 9 to 10:30AM Wednesday in the funeral home.

Interment is private.
