William Elias DeLong II, 69, of Whitehall died Friday, August 19, 2016 in Lehigh Valley Hospital – Muhlenberg, Bethlehem. He was the beloved husband of Blanche A. (Terrell) DeLong with whom he celebrated 28 years of marriage on January 8, 2016. Born in Allentown he was the son of the late William E. and Gertrude E. “Betty” (Kocher) DeLong. After graduation from William Allen High School in 1965, Bill enlisted in the Air Force and served and protected his country during the Vietnam War. Arriving home from the service, he started a career at PPL which lasted 29 years as an account supervisor until his retirement in 2000. He then took a position as tenant selection supervisor at Allentown Housing Authority retiring in 2004. Never one to sit still, Bill was currently a bartender at the Woodlawn Fire Company and the Mercantile Club, Emmaus. He previously worked as a bartender at the Fogelsville Fire Company and the Macungie V.F.W. Post 9624. A 32nd Degree Mason, he was a member of Greenleaf Lodge and Lehigh Consistory Valley of Allentown. He was a member of the Woodlawn Fire Company, Fogelsville Fire Company and a life member of the Hogan’s Social Club. Bill was a member of Jordan United Church of Christ, Orefield and a former member of Grace United Church of Christ, Allentown.

Survivors: Wife; sons, Eric J. Palmer and his wife Andrea of Charlotte, NC, William E. DeLong III and his wife Kristy, Bryson T. Ross and his wife Sarah all of Allentown; grandchildren, Jessica, Elias, Erica, Jayden and Matthew.

Funeral Service 11:00AM Wednesday in the J.S. Burkholder Funeral Home, 16th & Hamilton Sts., Allentown, www.jsburkholder.com. Call 7 to 8:30PM Tuesday and 9:30 to 10:45AM Wednesday in the funeral home. Masonic Service 10:45AM Wednesday in the funeral home. Interment is private.
