Frances M. Wirth

Frances M. Wirth, 91 of Macungie, died September 28, 2016 at Cornerstone Living in New Tripoli, PA. She was the wife of the late Alfred J. Wirth, Sr. Born in Macungie, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Mary (Kneedler) Reichard. Her work life began when she was a Senior at Allen High as a watch repair person for jeweler Walter Keck; she was featured in The Evening Chronicle Newspaper February 13, 1943 article titled ‘The Other Fellow’s Job’. In 1972 she and her husband purchased H & K Vacuum Cleaner Sales and Service, and worked at the business until the business closed. After closing the business, Frances went to work for Walmart until the age of 83. She was an active and faithful member of Grace Lutheran Church, Macungie. Frances’s family was her life; she enjoyed cooking and hosting family holidays. She was known for baking her famous apple pies. In retirement, she was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels of Lehigh County. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She is survived by: Daughters: Joan W. Rohrer of Adamstown, PA and Mary E. wife of Ken Schaeffer of Macungie, Son: Alfred J. Wirth, Jr. of Allentown, Sister: Arlene Olenwine of Whitehall, Grandchildren: Jason, Scott and Matthew and Great-Granddaughter: Violet. She was predeceased by an infant daughter.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 3, 2016 at 1:30 P.M. at Grace Lutheran Church 28 W. Main St. Macungie. The family will celebrate Frances after the service with apple pie and ice cream in the church social hall.
