Edward William Moll, 89, of Allentown, formerly of Hamburg, PA, passed away March 3, 2017 in Sanatoga Center, Pottstown, PA. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Allen Eugene Moll and the late Ruth A.A. (Malburg) Moll. He was a 1945 graduate of Allentown High School. Ed received his B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from the Rochester Institute of Technology and had over 40 years of experience in the telecommunication and computer businesses. He is the inventor or co-inventor of 24 patents in the telephone, telecommunication and computer fields. Before receiving his degree, he started in the telephone trade by climbing poles, maintaining lines, and installing and repairing telephones and PBX’s. He had been employed as an engineer, senior designer, project manager, program manager and director of research at Bell System, Stromberg-Carlson, ITT, TeleSciences, Ford Aerospace and General Electric. His computer years, he worked with Burroughs and Honeywell Companies. He was the president of Moll Innovations, his company, which performed telecommunications research, voice and data compression research, cellular system design, network planning, system design, vendor selection, cost reduction, product evaluation and installation management until retiring. Ed was a former member of the Munopco Choir and the Lehigh County Senior Citizens Group. He was a member of Zion’s Reformed United Church of Christ, Allentown.

Survivors: Daughter: Deborah L. wife of Dennis Lepine, a Granddaughter: Danielle K. Lepine and a Grandson: Douglas and his wife Tabetha all of Trooper, PA. He was predeceased by a Sister: Justine Elliot.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, at 2 P.M. in the J.S. Burkholder Funeral Home, 16th and Hamilton Sts. Allentown. Call 1 P.M. to 2 P.M. in the funeral home
