Philip W. Markley, 89, of Allentown, died on Saturday, May 20, 2017, at the Phoebe Home, Allentown. He was born in Philadelphia on April 19, 1928 to Russell K. and Anna W. Markley. He graduated from Lansdale High School in 1945 and went to Yale University, from which he obtained a bachelor’s degree in 1949. He received a master’s degree in international relations in 1951 from the University of Pennsylvania. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years. He later was employed by the Friends Select School in Philadelphia, the U.S. Department of Commerce in Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Geological Survey in Reston, VA. He moved to Phoebe Terrace in Allentown, PA in 2002. He was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Lansdale.

He is survived by a sister, Anne M. Harrity of Allentown, and three nieces, who adored him.
