Carl Stephen “Chick” Frensky, 87, of Allentown died peacefully on Friday, July 14, 2017. He was the devoted husband of the late Margaret Ann “Peggy” (Gera) Frensky for 62 years. Born on October 29, 1929 in Allentown, he was the son of the late Walter W. and Marcelline (Hovanetz) Frensky. Carl was a 1946 graduate of Allentown Central Catholic High School, receiving the Distinguished Graduate Award in 1997. He obtained a B.S. Degree in Business Administration (1950) and a M.B.A. (1960), both from Lehigh University, and was a Certified Public Accountant. He served in the United States Air Force as First Lieutenant within the Continental Air Command. Carl began his professional career at Ernst and Ernst in New York. He worked in a variety of controllership positions at Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. for 40 years, retiring in 1994. During this tenure, on a special assignment, he advised on start-up operations for the Lehigh Valley Hospital. He was an active member of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants, serving as both President of the Lehigh Valley Chapter and Vice-President of the State Society, as well as trustee of the PICPA Scholarship Fund. Carl was a devout Catholic and was a member of St. Thomas More Parish from its founding in 1966. He was an altar server and lector at the 7am daily Mass as well as Eucharistic minister at parish Masses and at the Lehigh Valley Hospital for several decades. He was instrumental in numerous capital improvement campaigns. Carl was the finance chairman for the parish council for over 15 years, he initiated the Parish Vocations Committee and was co-chairperson (with his wife Peggy) for the 25th anniversary year celebration. Carl served the Diocese of Allentown as a trustee to the Lay Employee’s Retirement Plan and Priest’s Pension Plan for over 30 years. He was a member of the Diocesan Finance Council as chairperson of the Budget Committee and a member of the Audit Committee for several years. He was an elected member of the 2006 Diocesan Synod. At the request of Bishop McShea, Carl developed and taught classes in Parish Financial Administration as a member of the non-resident faculty of Mary Immaculate Seminary, Northampton PA. He also was a developmental advisory board member for the Mercy Special Learning Center. Carl supported Catholic education and vocations. He worked with DeSales University on annual fund campaigns, serving as general chairperson for the 1996-1997 campaign, and for over a decade was part of the President’s Council as a member of the Committee for the Salesian Center for Faith and Culture. For Allentown Central Catholic High School, he served on Project Steering and Capital Campaign Leadership Committees along with the Development Advisory Board. For many years, Carl was involved with Serra International which supports vocations. He was President of the Serra Club of Allentown and Governor of District 80 (Dioceses of Allentown, Harrisburg and Scranton), and he coordinated the establishment of a separate District 80-1 for five area clubs. Carl enjoyed traveling, family gatherings in Stone Harbor, NJ, attending musicals, biking, tennis and participation in his Logos group. He was devoted to his wife and daughters, whom he lovingly called his "sorority,” and was a wonderful grandfather and great grandfather.

Survivors: 4 Daughters – Patricia F. wife of Michael Orfini of Vienna, VA, Mary Susan wife of Gregory Hanks of Hummelstown, PA, Kathleen F. wife of Steven Tranelli of Rochester, NY, Jeanne M. Frensky of Atlanta, GA; 10 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:30PM Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 1040 Flexer Ave., Allentown, PA 18103. The family will be receiving friends between 10:30AM and Noon Wednesday, July 19, 2017 in the church.
