Augustus H. "Gus" Fretz II

Augustus H. “Gus” Fretz II, 40, of Key West, Florida, died October 7, 2017. Born in Sellersville, PA, he was the son of Joan M. (McLaughlin) Fretz and the late Henry S. Fretz. Gus was a part of the Boeing Team that implemented the ending stages of the 787 Dreamliner. He was a 1996 graduate of Wyoming Seminary, a 2000 graduate of Trident Technical College obtaining his air frame and power plant license and in 2002 he received his degree in airport management from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. In 2011 he graduated from the Citadel University obtaining a masters degree in project management. He was an avid sailor and loved sailboat racing. He and his father built a custom racing sloop, “Wahoo” on the Isle of Wight in England, they affectionately called their “Super Model”. It was the fastest sloop on the Eastern Seaboard, and with his dad and their crew they won first in fleet in the 100th Anniversary Race from Newport to Bermuda.

Survivors: Mother, Brothers: Donald T. Fretz and his wife Alicia, Kevin M. Fretz and his wife Mary and, Sister: Heather F. Griffin wife of Lloyd E. Griffin, Nieces: Amanda, Madison and Reese and Nephews: Christian, Brenden and Gavin.

A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 11 A.M. in the J.S. Burkholder Funeral Home, 1601 W. Hamilton St. Allentown, PA. A Calling hour will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2017 from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. at the funeral home. Interment: Nisky Hill Cemetery, Bethlehem, PA.
