Eleanor E. Stephens was born into this world on May 26, 1925 and left it to meet her Father in Heaven on February 11, 2018, at the age of 92 years. She was the wife of Ellis H. Stephens, who passed away on December 16, 2003, after enjoying 57 years of marriage. She was the daughter of the late Clayton K. Bush and Annabelle (Frutchey) Bush. She was born and raised in Delaware Water Gap in Monroe County. She attended Smithfield Elementary and Stroudsburg High School. She moved to her home in the East Texas area after she was married. As a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union, she was employed in the dress-making industry for 30 years, both in the Allentown and Emmaus area. She had been a zipper-setter. She retired in 1984; however, she continued to do sewing and alterations to clothes in her home. Her specialty was working on wedding gowns and making dresses from patterns. She was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church in Macungie. In her spare time, she loved gardening, baking and cooking. She was an avid book reader and particularly enjoyed crocheting and knitting afghans. She loved to watch NASCAR races on television and Jeff Gordon was her favorite driver. When someone would ask her how she was doing, she would always say “One day at a time.” She will be greatly missed by her friends and relatives.

Eleanor is survived by a son, Ellis S. Stephens (Colleen) of Peotone, Illinois, grandsons, Derek of Hammond, Indiana and Christopher (Tabitha) of Frankfort, Illinois and a granddaughter, Danielle of Chicago, Illinois. Eleanor was the first born and eldest of seven siblings. (two sisters and four brothers), all of whom are deceased. She has numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, February 19, 2018 at 11 A.M. at St. Paul’s Cemetery, Rt 100 Trexlertown, PA.
