Margaret G. Haines, 90, of Luther Crest Retirement Community, South Whitehall Twp., passed away on July 11, 2018. She was the wife of the late Robert C. Haines. Margaret was a school psychologist for the Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit for many years until retiring. At CLIU, she worked to diagnose, refer and treat children and young adults with all exceptionalities. Prior to CLIU, she worked in the same capacity for the Regional Psychological Clinic, the Allentown School District Title I and the Lehigh Association for Retarded Children. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late George Davis Greene and the late Leola Margaret (Helmer) Greene. She was a 1945 graduate of Roxborough High School, a 1949 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania with a B.A. in Psychology and a 1966 graduate of Temple University with a Masters of Education degree in Counseling and Guidance. She also attended Kutztown University, Penn State University and Glassboro State College obtaining post Master credits in psychology and in special education. She received her Pennsylvania State Certification to be a school psychologist in 1971 after being certified as a guidance counselor in 1968. Margaret was a member of the Lehigh Valley Psychological Association, the National Association of School Psychologists and the Council for Exceptional Children. She served on the Volunteers of America Day Care Center Advisory Board, the Lehigh County Children’s Bureau Advisory Board, Protect Professional Advisory Board (Child Abuse) and volunteered on the Committee for Scientific Research and Advancement as well as Planned Parenthood. She was a member, deacon, vice-president and chairman of the community service committee at the First Presbyterian Church of Allentown.

Survivors: Son, Roger C. Haines and his wife Kendra of Vero Beach, FL, Daughters, Deborah L. Haines and her husband Tom Potts of Allentown and Marsha D. Roon and her husband Chris of Park City, Utah, Brother, Donald L. Greene of Wilmington, DE and Grandchildren, Drew and Lee Haines, Matt and Wes Roon and Abbey Potts.

A memorial service will be held out of town at a future date.
