Brooke R. Hartman, Jr.

Brooke R. Hartman, Jr., 90, of Macungie, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 3, 2023 at Lehigh Valley Hospital. He was the loving husband of Carole C. (Clark) Hartman for 45 years until her death in 1999. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Brooke and Martha (McQuilkin) Hartman Sr. Brooke worked at PPL for 51 years, retiring in 1995 as the Manager of Financial Reporting. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Allentown, teaching the College and Career class and the adult men’s Sunday School class for over 50 years and serving as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees for over 30 years. Brooke was also the Finance Chairman at Millbrook Chase where he lived. He was a member of the Board of Directors and a volunteer management consultant for the Executive Service Corps of the Lehigh Valley. He spent many Saturdays preparing tax returns as a volunteer for retired persons. He enjoyed travel, reading and attending live musical events including those at Lehigh’s Zoellner Arts Center. Brooke graduated from Lehigh University in 1954. Brooke is survived by his companion of 23 years, Pat Helfrich, his two sons, Brooke R. Hartman III of Parker, Colorado (wife Susan) and Jeffrey S. Hartman of Lancaster, PA (wife Chris), his two sisters, Kathy, wife of Robin Walbert, and Jan Wilson, and his 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his brother, Terrance Hartman, in 2012. The Hartman family would like to thank the staff at the Lehigh Commons and Family Caregivers for taking such good care of Brooke over the last five years. They especially want to thank Rich, Analyse, Anita, Tiffany and Michael. They would also like to thank the people at Lehigh Valley Hospice for their compassionate care in his final days. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to a celebration of Brooke’s life on Saturday September 9th at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church, 1808 N. 19th St. Allentown, PA 18104. Visitation with family will begin at 10:00 AM. A reception lunch will follow the service. Private interment will be on Monday September 11th.
