Catherine Ann Tighe

Catherine Ann Tighe passed away on January 20, 2024 after a courageous and hard fought battle with pancreatic cancer. Thank you to all our friends and family for the love and support over this difficult year. Cathy was born to Wallace Lee and Catherine Cecile Weber on January 21, 1945 in Port Arthur, TX. She was a 1963 Graduate of Bishop Byrne High School. In 1969 while working at the US Public Health Hospital in Galveston, TX she met Philip J. Tighe. They were married at St. Mary’s Cathedral where her parents and grandparents were also married. They celebrated 53 years of marriage in April. She moved home with Phil to Allentown, PA to start his orthodontic practice where they have lived for over 50 years. Though loving Pennsylvania and the great friendships she made, the spirit of Texas burned bright in her heart. Her license plate read O2BINTX. Cathy lived a selfless and faith-based life always putting family, friends and community first. Her caring, loving and giving nature will forever be cherished and deeply missed. She loved all her friends in the garden clubs, card groups, book club, bowling league and Chaine. Community service was her passion giving time to St. Thomas More School, Junior League, Meals on Wheels, American Heart Association, Allentown and Emmaus Garden Club to name a few. She believed in contributing to her community and making it a better place for all. She shared her life with husband Philip J., sons Philip L. and Robert, Daughter-in-law Jenha and grandchildren Ainsley and Molly (the loves of her life!) She also was blessed with 3 brothers, 2 brother-in-laws, 4 sister-in-laws and 11 nieces and nephews and their families. Our family would like to thank the oncology department at Lehigh Valley Hospital and Family Pillars Hospice. They helped us navigate an incredibly difficult situation with hope, dignity and compassionate care. As we grieve the loss of Cathy, let us also celebrate the beautiful life she lived. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 27th at 11 AM in the St. Thomas More Church, 1040 Flexer Ave. Allentown, PA. A visitation will precede the Mass from 9 AM to 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, we ask everyone in her honor to hug a loved one, take a friend to lunch and donate some time to make your community a better place. She always did!
