Cynthia Suzette "Cindy" Hirschel

Cynthia (Cindy) Suzette (Williams) Hirschel of Laurys Station, PA passed away from neuroendocrine cancer on July 18, 2024. Born in Allentown Sept 15, 1952, she was 71 at her time of death. As a young woman, Cindy worked in banking for nine years, then became a Convention coordinator for a travel company for seven years. She earned her certification as a Travel Consultant while working for Rosenbluth Travel. Later, she went to work for AT&T Microelectronics and retired after twenty years service. In semi-retirement, she worked as a part time contractor at Lehigh Valley Health Network until she was 63. Cindy met the love of her life, Paul Hirschel, early on. It was love at first sight. They celebrated 42 years of marriage until Paul died of cancer Dec. 29, 2015. As a widow, Cindy decided it was time to pursue her travel interests. She traveled solo for years. Her travels took her to Singapore, multiple trips to the UK, Italy, Spain, Portugal and France. An enthusiast for the exotic, she also traveled to Greece, Turkey, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Egypt. Calmer vacations included Las Vegas, Florida, and Hawaii as well as Caribbean cruises. Cindy’s passions were blackjack, music, good friends and her husband Paul, not in that particular order. She often reflected on what a great life she had lived, grateful for the unconditional love of a good man, a nice home and good health. She also loved cooking, gardening and landscaping. Many days were spent digging in the yard to plant new shrubs and perennial flowers. For anyone who knew her, even covered in garden dirt, Cindy always wore lipstick and earrings, much to her husband and friends’ amusement. She was thankful to the many wonderful people who supported her during her prolonged illness. Surely, Cindy is reunited with Paul and they are walking hand in hand again. True love stories never have endings. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at 1130 A.M. at the J.S. Burkholder Funeral Home, 1601 Hamilton Street, Allentown. A calling hour will be held on Saturday, from 10:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. at the funeral home.
