Dolores Mary Falco

Dolores Mary Falco, born June 7, 1930 of Allentown, Pennsylvania passed away at St. Luke’s Hospital, Fountain Hill, surrounded by her family and devoted caretaker Sherry Hillborn, on September 27, 2024. Dolores was the daughter of Emanual DePiante and Edith (Borget) DePiante. Born and raised in Shamokin, she graduated from St. Edward High School in 1948 and from St. Joseph’s College in Emmitsburg, Maryland. After Dolores graduated from University of California Berkeley, she became a registered dietitian and worked in various nursing homes serving patients until she became the manager of Emmaus Avenue Family Practice, retiring at age 70. While working as a dietitian and raising her family, Dolores had years of service to the Auxiliary Guild of Allentown Osteopathic Hospital. She also volunteered at the Center for Sight and Hospice. Dolores was a member of the Emmaus Women’s Club, serving in various roles. She enjoyed gardening, taking care of the birds outside her home, musical theater, needlework, reading, and playing bridge and pinochle. Dolores looked forward to her time with friends in Cancun each year, and loved being near the ocean. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Dolores was predeceased in 2015 by her husband of 60 years, Domenic. She is survived by four children: Mary Teresa, wife of Richard Weiss, Antoinette, partner of Leslie Cohen, Andrew Falco, husband of Patricia (Flyzik) Falco, and Michael, husband of Barbara (Geusic) Falco, six grandchildren: Dylan Falco, Domenick Falco , husband of Paige Malewski, Alexander Falco, husband of Meredyth Hurlbert, Anna Falco, Eric Weiss, husband of Kelly (LoBue) Weiss, and Emily Weiss, wife of Jeremy Houtz and four great-grandchildren: Andrew Yost, Sylar Falco, Sander Houtz, and Selah Houtz. Services: A calling hour will be held Thursday, October 3, from 6:00 P.M until 7:30 P.M. at the J.S. Burkholder Funeral Home 16th and Hamilton Streets Allentown and on Friday, October 4, from 8:30 A.M. to 9:30 A.M. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 4, at 10:00 A.M. in the Cathedral of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 18th and Turner Sts. Allentown. Interment will be at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel (Italian cemetery) following the Mass.
