Joseph P. Bergstein

Joseph P. Bergstein, 83, of South Whitehall Twp., passed away on December 31, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Marcia K. (Roach) Bergstein. They were married for 54 years on June 29, 2023. Joseph was the Manager of Operations Analysis for AmeriGas for many years until retiring. Born in Bronx, NY, he was the son of the late Bernard and Alice (Kaufmann) Bergstein. Joseph served in the U.S. Army National Guard. He was a 1958 graduate of Parkland High School and attended Kutztown University. Joe was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Marcia was the love of his life and he wanted to spend every minute with her. They enjoyed spending time with their friends, always going out to dinner and finding things to do around town. Joe also loved to travel. His most memorable trips were a Mediterranean cruise he and Marcia took with Marcia's sister and brother-in-law, as well as a trip to Israel with his brother. During his younger years, Joe was a ski instructor and on the ski patrol at Camel Back Ski Resort. He was also the baseball commissioner and coached little league for South Parkland Youth Association for his son Joey and never missed a sporting event for his grandson Mason. He attended countless dance recitals for his daughter Kristin which prepared him for more countless dance recitals and dance competitions for his granddaughters Elya, Ava and Lily, never wanting to miss a single important event for his children and grandchildren. Joe had many interests and hobbies including photography, kayaking and playing the guitar, but his real love was his family. His favorite times were spent being with Marcia whether it was traveling, running errands or just being at home. He always looked forward to a week in Avalon, NJ each summer with Greg, Kristin, Ava and Lily and family friends, as well as spending the week in Bethany, DE with their best friends. Stewart of Lower Macungie Twp., Brother: Bill Bergstein of Allentown, Grandchildren: Mason Bergstein, Elya Bergstein, Ava Stewart and Lily Stewart and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, and several cousins. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, January 8, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. in the J.S. Burkholder Funeral Home 16th and Hamilton Sts. Allentown.
