Joseph P. Billera

Joseph P. Billera, 91, of Lower Macungie Twp., and formally of Tequesta, FI., passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on February 28, 2023. He was the husband of Gloria (Cocca) Billera. They were married for 65 years last May. Joseph, "JP”, was the President of Modern Slacks Creations from 1964 until retiring in 1986. Born in Jersey City, NJ, he was the son of the late Pasquale "Pat" and Rose H. (Panepinto) Billera. He was a 1949 graduate of Allentown Central Catholic High School and was a 1953 graduate of Villanova University. Joseph was very active in his community. He was on the Board of Directors of the Lehigh Valley Agricultural Society, the Board of Directors of the First National Bank of Allentown, was a Vice-President of the Apparel Alliance of Eastern PA, Inc., was 1973 Chairman of the Easter Seal Campaign of the Lehigh Valley, served on the Executive Committee of Cedar Crest College and was a past President of the Allentown Rotary Club. Joseph was a parishioner of the Cathedral of St Catherine of Siena, where he was often seen ushering the Saturday evening mass, and he was an active member of St. Jude Catholic Church in Tequesta. He enjoyed being a member of Lehigh Country Club and Jupiter Hills Country Club. JP had a love of life and people. He made friends everywhere he went and always made sure to ask your name and how you were doing. He enjoyed golf, traveling, card games and a dry martini with a lemon twist. He had a lot of faith and wisdom, which he enjoyed sharing, and a kindness and generosity that was unmatched. His unconditional love and support will be extremely missed by his family and friends. Survivors: Wife, Daughters: Roseanne Roman (George) of Allentown, Lisa Anderson (Al) of Fogelsville, Patricia Wohlforth (Rick) of Delay Beach, FL and Renee Nuthall (Richard) of Redondo Beach, CA, 10 Grandchildren and 5 Great-Grandchildren. The family would especially like to thank his caregivers and the Lehigh Valley Hospice staff. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at 11 A.M. in the Cathedral of St. Catharine of Siena 18th and Turner Sts. Allentown. A viewing will be held on Monday, March 6, 2023 from 6:30 P.M. to 8:00P.M. in the J.S. Burkholder Funeral Home 16th and Hamilton Sts. Allentown. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Lehigh Valley Hospice.
