Arinda (Ari) S. Diaz, 74, died peacefully, surrounded by family, in the early morning of March 14, 2022, at the South Whitehall Township home she shared with her loving husband, Alvaro A. Diaz. Born in Colombia, Ari was a daughter of Rafael Salcedo and Ana Olinda Onoro. She graduated cum laude from City College of New York in 1981, with a B.S. in Education. She was a resident of the Lehigh Valley for forty years, was an arts lover and advocate, and devoted her time to various causes including volunteer work for the Allentown Arts Museum, where she was a docent and SOTA member, the Hispanic American Organization, and the Allentown Symphony Association, where she served as chair of the 1995 Symphony Ball. She is survived by her husband Alvaro (to whom she was married for nearly 49 years), her daughter Maribel of Durham, NC and Allentown, and youngest daughter Emmylou and her husband Steve Mize of Los Angeles, CA, who are expecting Ari’s first grandchild this summer. Ari will also be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her sister Celia Salcedo of Easton and brother Octavio Salcedo of Margate, FL as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 18, 2022 at 1:30 P.M. at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 1040 Flexer Ave. Allentown. A viewing will be held on Friday, from 11:30 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. in the J.S. Burkholder Funeral Home, 1601 W. Hamilton St. Allentown. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to: The Allentown Art Museum, 31 N. 5th St. Allentown, PA 18101 or to the Good Shepherd Rehab Hospital, 850 S. 5th St. Allentown, PA 18103 or to the Hispanic American Organization, Inc. 462 W.
