Doris Alice (Ehrhardt) Bova, 101, passed on Saturday March 20, 2021 at her home in Phoebe Terrace surrounded by all her children. She was the wife of the late Albert J. Bova, and they celebrated 60 years together before his passing in 2011. A life-time resident of Allentown, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Helen Ehrhardt. Doris graduated from Allentown High School, class of 1937. After high school, she had a career at Liberty Mutual Insurance for many years, rising to manager of secretarial staff. Music was an important part of her life; she was involved in local theatre with the Municipal Opera Company and held the lead in several musical productions. She and her friends travelled to NYC often to see shows and to shop. She had a trained operatic voice, loved singing at church and at home when the spirit moved her. She was treasurer for the Allentown Music Club for many years and frequently attended Allentown Symphony performances. She had the good fortune to travel the world with her beloved husband and friends. They were able to visit 6 of the continents, often to visit exchange students’ countries. She enjoyed the outdoors and camping with family, most often to Raquette Lake NY and many other state parks including a cross country trip to California. She is survived by her brother Frederick “Fritz”, and by her daughter, Alice of Isle of Palms SC, her sons, Albert (Ann) of Bethlehem, James (Maggie) of Macungie, daughters Susan (Joe) Ingraffia of Evanston IL, Dori of Philadelphia, and Marty (David) Banks of Atlanta GA. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Liann, Emily, Maria, Theresa, Grace, Audrey, Evan, Patrick, Isabella, Nicholas, Louis, Abby, Gabe, Christian, Nathan, Joseph, 5 great grandchildren, and her loving caregiver, Claudette. She is predeceased by sisters Lucille Kuhnsman and Irene Ehrhardt, and a grandson Gerard Bova. Calling hours will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday March 24, 2021 at The Cathedral of Saint Catharine of Siena 18th and Turner Sts. Allentown, followed by Mass at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Allentown Symphony or The Municipal Opera Company.
