Joseph A. Skiba 75, of Macungie, passed away January 14, 2022 in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. Joseph was a financial contract negotiator at Lockheed Martin until retiring where he loved to crunch numbers and wheel and deal. Born in Trenton, New Jersey, he was the son of the late Edward F. and Celia L. (Bikowski) Skiba. He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. Joseph was full of life, and his favorite thing to do was spending time with family, friends and friends that were family. He lived for his grandchildren and all they did. You could find him behind home plate at the softball field or in the audience for a dance recital or band concert. Those who knew him well understood that he lived his life exactly the way that he wanted to without regret. He loved to travel and above all going out to eat. He will live in our memory and hearts forever. We will laugh as we reminisce and share the “Pops”isms that he became famous for like, “God will love you for this” and “She wasn’t always like that”. Survivors: Daughter: Karen M. wife of Dominic Bartels of Allentown, Son: Edward J. Skiba and his wife Heather of Luling, Louisiana, Cousins: Jerry Sanvardine and his wife Joanne of Bordentown, New Jersey, Bobby Bikowski and his wife Susan of Trenton, New Jersey and Alan Bikowski and his wife Ellen of Trenton, New Jersey and Grandchildren: Garrett Bartels, Abigail Bartels, Madalyn Dey, Joseph Skiba and Marigny Skiba. He was preceded in death by his Parents and his Aunt, Mary Bikowski. Services: We will plan gatherings to celebrate his life in Pennsylvania, Louisiana and New Jersey at a time in 2022 when it is safer to gather together. We will post details separately. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to: Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund (www.vvmf.org) or please support your local youth baseball or softball program.
