Nancy A. Kressley

Nancy A. Kressley, 89, of Emmaus, formerly of Allentown, passed away March 31, 2022 at home surrounded by her family. She was the loving wife of Dr. Vernon D. Kressley, married for 65 years. Born in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late Harold E. Schmoyer and the late Verna M. (Gibbon) Schmoyer. Nancy was a proud Allentonian having graduated from William Allen High School (1950) and Moravian College for Woman (1954) in Bethlehem. She was a longtime volunteer and very active in the community. Nancy volunteered at the former Allentown Sacred Heart Hospital in the gift shop, a longtime volunteer and organizer for hospitality at the Good Shepherd Golf Classic and was an active parent volunteer for the Parkland School District. She was a member of the Allentown Woman’s Club and former treasurer at the Allentown YM/YWCA. She and Vern were avid bridge players for many years. Most of all, Nancy made a home where everyone was welcome and good food was always plentiful. She was host to many birthday, graduation, and engagement parties for her children and husband. Nancy was always willing to join into a game of tennis, paddle tennis, or golf at both the Trident Swim and Tennis Club and the Lehigh Country Club. Nancy will be remembered as loyal friend, devoted wife, mother and “Nanny” to her six grandchildren. Nancy is survived by her husband Vern; son, Dr. Andrew J. Kressley of Essex, CT; daughter, Beth Kressley Goldstein and her husband Dennis Goldstein of Weston, MA; brother, James Schmoyer and his wife Monika of Germansville, PA; grandchildren, Emily Kressley, Ryan Goldstein, Caitlin Kressley, Devin Goldstein, Sara Goldstein and Aspen Goldstein. A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 8, 2022 at 11 A.M. in Christ Lutheran Church 1245 W. Hamilton Street Allentown. A calling hour will be held on Friday, from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. in the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association at act.alz.org.
