Barbara May Sechler

Barbara May Sechler, 92, formerly of 1138 N. 21st. St. Allentown, passed away on March 9, 2024 In the Phoebe Home, Allentown. Barbara met the love of her life Thomas W. Sechler while she was attending Kutztown University to be a teacher. They married quickly and the adventure of a lifetime began. Barbara never remarried after Tom’s passing in 1989 because she said she was still married to the love of her life. Barbara was a homemaker. Early on, she was a server at the 1850 Room at the former Leh’s Department Store in Allentown. Born in Emmaus, she was the daughter of the late Wilbur and Verna (Race) Creveling. Barbara grew up in Allentown and enjoyed a full long life that was filled with and lived in love - she often talked about her childhood and how she enjoyed riding the trolly and going to the movies every Saturday with her sister Margie and brother Buddy and spending time on their family’s farm. She was a graduate of Allentown High School. Barbara loved her husband, her children, their spouses her grandchildren and great-grandchild fiercely and lived every day with grace, beauty and courage. She was passionate about life, saw the beauty in everyone. Loved building a beautiful home filled with antiques, art and music. She is already deeply missed by all those that loved and knew her. Survivors: Sons: Thomas W. Sechler, Jr. and his wife Lisa of Newbury Park, CA and John T. Sechler of Allentown, Daughters: Deborah C. wife of Steve Davis of Allentown and Abigail K. wife of Duane Repko of Annapolis, MD, Grandchildren: Kelly wife of Joseph Zikis, Rhett Repko, Timothy Sechler-Stone and Tyler Sechler-Stone and a Great-Granddaughter: Penny Zikis. She was preceded in death by Sons: Timothy S. Sechler and Terrence C. “Terry” Sechler. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, March 18, 2024 at 11 A.M. in the J.S. Burkholder Funeral Home 16th and Hamilton Sts. Allentown. A calling hour will be held on Monday, from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the William Allen High School Theatre Department 106 N. 17th St. Allentown PA 18104.
