Dorothy Grace Lenz

Dorothy Grace Lenz, 95, of South Whitehall Township, Pennsylvania, formerly of Edison, New Jersey, and Staten Island, New York, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2026. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Herman E. Lenz. Born in Staten Island, New York, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Louis Dente and Helen (Anderson) Brown. She was preceded in death by her beloved brother, Louis Dente Jr. Dorothy dedicated 33 years of service to the Diocese of Metuchen, New Jersey, retiring in 2014. Throughout her career, she played an integral role in the Bishop's Annual Appeal and was a pioneer among women in the Diocese's Data Processing and Accounting departments, helping implement its early computerized data processing systems. Dorothy was a deeply spiritual woman whose faith guided her throughout her life. She possessed an endless curiosity about the world and a genuine interest in people and their stories. Whether offering thoughtful advice, sharing her life experiences, or simply listening, she was a constant source of wisdom, comfort, and quiet strength to everyone who knew her. Dorothy enjoyed the simple pleasures that brought her happiness. She had a special affection for her family, cats, elephants, the beauty of Lake Wallenpaupack, nature, and watching the sunset. These everyday joys reflected the appreciation for life's blessings that defined her. Dorothy's family includes her children, listed from oldest to youngest: Thomas Lenz Sr. of Edison, New Jersey; Robert Lenz and his wife, Germaine, of South Whitehall Township, Pennsylvania; and Ann Barnes and her husband, Robert, of Cleveland, Ohio. She also shared a special lifelong bond with her beloved niece, Lori Ferrazzoli and her husband, Andrew, of Easton, Pennsylvania. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, listed from oldest to youngest: Thomas Lenz Jr. and his wife, Melissa Lovric; Peter Lenz and his wife, Adriana; and Amanda Lenz and her husband, Trey Oswalt. She was especially proud of her great-grandchildren, Ryan and Avery, the beloved children of Peter and Adriana. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 20, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 1040 Flexer Avenue, Allentown, Pennsylvania. Family and friends are invited to a visitation at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, Dorothy's family invites those who wish to honor her memory by planting a tree. She found great joy in the beauty of nature, and trees held a special place in her heart. A commemorative Tree in Memory may be planted in her honor through the Arbor Day Foundation. Dorothy's legacy lives on through the faith she shared, the wisdom she imparted, and the love she gave so freely to her family, friends, and future generations.
