Gertrude "Midge" Peischl

Gertrude “Midge” Peischl (nee Gerress), aged 88, died peacefully at Holy Family Manor in Bethlehem Saturday, May 16, 2020. Midge was born in Pittsburgh and grew up in Philadelphia and Quakertown She was the daughter of the late Stefan Gerress and the late Katherine Gerress (nee Mueller). She was married to the late Alfred Peischl of Allentown in St. Isidore’s Roman Catholic Church in Quakertown on October 27, 1956, after which she and Al settled in Allentown and raised their family of five children. Midge enjoyed traveling, gardening, and reading. Her trips took her all around the world including Walt Disney World, Alaska, Mississippi River and Europe. She enjoyed watching her children play sports, including many baseball games at the Grandlawn Baseball Association, which she and Al helped start and for which she served as secretary for many years, as well as many North Parkland American Legion baseball, football and basketball games. She travelled to see her kids and grandkids play sports and musical shows at many different venues. She was also active at St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church where she was a parishioner for 52 years and served on the Parish Outreach Committee which she also chaired for a number of years. She is survived by her daughter Maryanne Garrett and husband Glenn of Dover DE, and daughter Nila and her husband Brian; daughter-in-law Diane of Hatboro, PA, her children Kelly Pierce and her husband Jim, Kaitlyn Moore, George Moore and his wife Ashley, and Kristen Moore; her son Mark Peischl and wife Michelle of Wayne, NJ, their children Stephanie Niedzwiecki and her husband John of Windermere, FL, Michael, Mary, and Joseph; her son Chris Peischl of Allentown, and his children Shawn, Colten, and Jillian; and her daughter Lisa DeRose and husband Danny of Elkton, MD, and their children Brittani Mischler and her husband Larry, Melissa, McGuire and her husband Matt, Zachary, Allison, Kimberly and Savannah. She was predeceased by her husband Alfred Peischl, her son Larry Peischl, and her brother John Gerress and great grand daughter Mia. A mass of remembrance will be held on Friday, June 26, 2020 at 10:00 A.M. in St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church 1046 W. Cedar Street Allentown. A calling hour will be held on Friday, from 9 A.M. to 10 A.M. at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Midge’s memory to St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church 1046 W.
