Luella M. Shoemaker

Luella M. Shoemaker Luella M. Shoemaker, 83, formerly of 1704 W. Highland St. Allentown, passed away on July 2, 2026, at the Phoebe Home, Allentown. Luella was the loving wife of the late Neal R. Shoemaker. Her most recent employment was as a promotional consultant at the former Babies R Us in Whitehall. Prior to this Luella graced many other employers with her presence and enthusiasm including Fashion Colony, Hersh’s Super Market, Personality Shop, and Cedar Crest College Daycare. Born in Kunkletown, PA, Luella was the daughter of the late William H. and Stella M. (Frable) Ruhmel. She is survived by her brothers and sisters; Hershel, Lila, Brian and Leann. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Allentown where she volunteered as an usher and receptionist. She also volunteered with the Allentown Symphony Association (organizing fundraisers and hosting musicians in their home), with the Allentown Hospital Junior Aides (helping with the gift shop, the Allentown Fair Coke trailer and visiting the children in the pediatric ward), and the Jewish Community Center (helping the preschool children learn how to swim). Her love of children was ever present as she frequently cared for her grandchildren, grandchildren’s friends and her nieces and nephews. Luella will be remembered as the life of the party and also for her infectious, joyous laugh. She was even known to dress up as Cookie Monster, Miss Piggy or Santa Claus to bring a smile to children in the hospital, in daycare or in her family. Survivors: Daughter: Wendy and her husband Herb Todd of Audubon, PA, Son: Michael Shoemaker and his wife Ericka of Allentown, Grandchildren: Kevin Todd, Eric Todd and his wife Lauren and their children Everett Todd and Charles Todd, Travis Shoemaker and Lindsay Shoemaker. Services will be private.
