Theodore Charles Goffinet

Theodore Charles Goffinet Theodore Charles Goffinet, 78, of Absecon, New Jersey, passed away on July 26, 2026, at Preferred Care at Absecon. He was the beloved husband of Andrea Sarnowski. After meeting in 1998, they were married on September 24, 2011, and would have celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary this September. Ted retired as a Customer Service Engineer with Diebold, Inc. Prior to that, he worked at Walmart in Trexlertown, Pennsylvania, from 2002 to 2005; owned and operated Trinity Enterprises, where he was a software developer and computer support technician from 1987 to 2002; served as a telecommunications engineer for AT&T from 1977 to 1986; and worked for Illinois Bell from 1968 to 1977. Born in Bellevue, Iowa, he was the son of the late Theodore E. Goffinet and Alberta C. (Veach) Goffinet. He was a 1966 graduate of Marquette High School in Bellevue, Iowa, and a 1969 graduate of DeVry Institute of Technology in Chicago, Illinois. Ted proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. He served as a Ground Radio Communications Equipment Repairman and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Air Force Good Conduct Medal for his honorable and dedicated military service. He was a dedicated member of the Long Valley First Aid Squad from 1982 to 2002, coached the Long Valley Lacrosse Club from 1979 to 1981, and served as a Boy Scout leader for Troop 36 in Long Valley, New Jersey, from 1982 to 1993. Ted was also a member of the American Legion in Absecon, New Jersey; the Guthsville Rod & Gun Club in Orefield, Pennsylvania; and the Lehigh Valley Amateur Astronomical Society in Allentown, Pennsylvania. In addition, he was a licensed amateur radio operator. Ted had a lifelong love of electronics, computers, astronomy, amateur radio, and reading. An avid reader, he was known for his dry sense of humor, quick wit, and intellectual curiosity, and he was always willing to share his knowledge and help others solve technical challenges. Ted lived a life of service—to his country, his community, his family, and his friends—and will be remembered for his kindness, intelligence, and willingness to help others. He is survived by his wife, Andrea Sarnowski, of Absecon, New Jersey; his sister, Sharon Even, of Dubuque, Iowa; his son, Timothy Goffinet and his wife, Viri, of Colona, Illinois; his daughter, Jeanine Goffinet Blackman, of Suwanee, Georgia; his daughter-in-law, Amy Goffinet, of Bangor, Pennsylvania; and his grandchildren, Elizabeth Goffinet, Hugh Allen Goffinet, Eric E. Goffinet Jr., Emily Goffinet, Lorelei Day Blackman, and Phineas Blackman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Eric E. Goffinet; his sister, Sharlene Runde; and his brothers-in-law, John Runde, Donald Even, and Chuck (John) O'Neill. Honoring Ted's wishes, there will be no funeral service. A memorial service for family and friends to celebrate his life will be held at a future date. Details will be announced when they become available.
