Virginia Cordisco

Virginia “Ginger” Cordisco, 93, of Wescosville, PA, passed away on January 21, 2026. Born and raised in Queens, NY, to Salvatore and Angela (D’Onofrio) Mazzei, she and her sister Elaine had a loving childhood, playing with friends and having family gatherings at her grandparents house. Ginger enjoyed music and learned to play the piano from her mom, an art she passed down to her grandkids. She loved exploring the city with friends, going to lunches, plays, and museums, in addition to warm days spent at Rockaway Beach. She met her husband, Al Cordisco, when a family friend introduced the two while he was serving in the Korean War. After exchanging letters and upon Al’s return to the States, they began a relationship, married, and welcomed a son, Dennis. They lived many years on Long Island before retiring to Wescosville. Ginger and Al shared a life full of gardening, biking, dancing, cooking, and spending time with her sister and brother-in-law. As a dog-lover, she had three dogs throughout her life–Roxy, Beauty, and Amie. As a gardener, she planted tomatoes and flowers, sharing them with friends and family alike. Ginger was known for her daily cup of tea and world-famous chocolate cake. She was also very fashionable, a passion she nurtured by sewing and designing her own outfits. Most of all, she treasured time with family and relished everything they were up to. Ginger is survived by her son Dennis (Pia) Cordisco and her grandchildren Daniella Cordisco (Geoff Christmas), Michael Cordisco, and Diana Cordisco. She is preceded in death by her husband Al Cordisco, parents Salvatore and Angela (D’Onofrio) Mazzei, sister Elaine Sorrentino (Mazzei), and brother-in-law Martin Sorrentino. She will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and all the love she gave others. A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2026 at 11:30 A.M. at the J.S. Burkholder Funeral Home, 16th and Hamilton Sts. Allentown. A calling hour will be held on Thursday, from 10:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. in the funeral home. Interment: Resurrection Cemetery, Allentown.
